The things I remember most about Jean, her voice, I could pick it any where she would say its Jean Darley I would always try to get in first By saying Hi Jean. I was only a girl of 22 yrs old when I met Jean in Westville, at a salon where we both worked we just hit it off, then I went to work for Jean at her 1st salon in South Africa. we were the very best off friends, Jean had some unforgettable sayings "bluddy hell'' "booger it" "you drive me crazy'' then would laugh, she had an incredibly memory for names, places, events, her hairdressing career which was her passion, which made her a house hold name in the UK & America. She won many many hairdressing awards, which made her famous with the rich & famous Celebrities in the UK. Jean could sell an ice cream to an Eskimo. She had a brilliant business mind. She always had a good story or joke to tell you. She use to make me laugh deep down in my boots. Jean had a very infectious personality once you met her you never forgot her. She was always full of bubble & bounce, & hard to keep up with. I came back to Australia in 1974, never expecting to see Jean & Derick again, we corresponded for a while but eventually lost track of each other, then one day 30 yrs later I got a phone call from her we are coming to Australia to see you can we get a bed, I was so excited, Jean & Derick spent a week with me on the Gold Coast, we had a wonderful time, it was like we had never been apart. I saw them 3 times on there holidays to Australia we just picked up where we left off each time. They were both like that. I Loved Jean like a family member & our friendship continued for 46 yrs even though the age difference between us was 18 yrs. I have been so sad that my dear friend has passed on. She use to tell me I have had a very good & happy life, no regrets, a man who truly loved me & was my soul mate, a son I loved & adored who made my life perfect what more could you want form life. My dearest Jean Rest in Peace & be joined again with your beloved Derick. All my Love, you are etched in my memoirs for ever & you will be sadly missed. Lorraine Cassels QLD Australia
